Open Library records The Carthaginian clergy during the episcopate of Saint Cyprian (Tamil Literature Society, Tuticorin, 1950; xviii, 112 p.), from Thani Nayagam’s Roman doctoral research on St Cyprian (248–258 AD). An American souvenir edition appeared around his 1950 lecture tour.

Memorial-volume context

Memorial accounts describe the thesis as growing out of his study of the catacombs and early Church history in Rome, published as The Carthaginian Clergy — a study of St Cyprian’s episcopate and clergy (248–258 AD). That early-Church research is often linked to his later concern that the Church be “made incarnate” in the cultures it entered, and to his founding of a Veeramamunivar (Beschi) Society in Rome to promote Tamil among Tamilian students there.
